Central Coast Mariners name new CEO in landmark announcement: ‘Beginning of an exciting new era’

Central Coast Mariners have appointed Alyssar Narey as the A-Leagues club’s new chief executive officer (CEO).

It is a landmark move for Isuzu UTE A-League champions the Mariners, with Narey the first female CEO in Central Coast’s history.

She steps into the role after Adam Thomson had served on an interim basis for the past six months, while chairman Richard Peil will step back from his day-to-day involvement to focus on his other business ventures as Jordan Smith takes over as executive chairman.

“I’m really excited to lead a club with a rich history, filled with great people and with such a strong connection to the community,” said Narey, who previously worked for the Australian Professional Leagues (APL).

“My goal is to make sure the Mariners continue to remain a pillar for the Central Coast and show what’s possible when a business and its community work together.”

“The Central Coast Mariners Board is confident that Alyssar Narey’s leadership will not only continue the club’s success but also set new standards,” the club added.

“Her appointment marks the beginning of an exciting new era for the Mariners, one that promises to bring even greater achievements and a stronger connection with the community.”

Thomson said: “I want to congratulate Alyssar on this well-deserved appointment. The club is in incredibly safe hands under her leadership, and I look forward to seeing the Mariners continue to thrive.”

Peil joined the Mariners as chair in 2022 and saw Central Coast win back-to-back Isuzu UTE A-League Championships and an historic treble last season, not to mention the return of the Liberty A-League side.

“The past few seasons have brought me the most success and enjoyment I’ve ever experienced in football,” Peil said.

“However, the demands of my other businesses now require more of my attention. I have every confidence that Jordan and Alyssar will continue to lead the Mariners to even greater heights.”
