Central Coast Mariners’ postponed Round 25 home clash with Adelaide United has been rescheduled to take place on May 1 at Industree Group Stadium.
The original fixture was postponed due to the Mariners facing flight cancellations from adverse weather conditions upon returning from their AFC Cup Inter-Zonal Play-Off Final first leg in Kyrgyzstan.
Flight cancellations from Dubai Airport en route back from Kyrgyzstan, and re-routing of flights due to the adverse weather conditions in the region resulted in the need for the fixture to be postponed.
R25 TALKING POINTS: ‘Almost identical’ pattern points to Aussie football’s next great ‘rebuild’
The rescheduled fixture on May 1 will be the final game on the regular season calendar; with Adelaide’s finals hopes shot, the trip to Industree Group Stadium has officially become the final game of young winger Nestory Irankunda’s brilliant three-season stint at the Reds prior to his off-season move to German giants Bayern Munich.
The May 1 encounter could also decide this season’s Premiership. Central Coast sit one point behind Wellington Phoenix but have a game in hand on the league-leaders. The Mariners face Newcastle Jets on Saturday, April 27 at 3.15pm AEST – a simultaneous kick-off to Wellington’s home clash with Macarthur FC.

Should Wellington finish the weekend ahead of the Mariners on points, the rescheduled clash between Central Coast and Adelaide will decide the destination of the Premiers Plate.
