Canberra United farewell two stars: ‘Their achievements will not be forgotten’

Canberra United have announced the departures of Nickoletta Flannery and Emma Ilijoski ahead of the 2024-25 Liberty A-League season.

Both players have farewelled Canberra for new opportunities, with Ilijoski joining Scottish outfit Hearts.

Flannery, 25, departs the capital club having made 87 appearances and scored 15 goals across two stints in Canberra after debuting in 2015-16.

Ilijoski, 21, debuted in 2021 and went on to play 55 games for Canberra.

“Both Nickoletta and Emma have been excellent servants to Canberra United Football Club and have always given their all to the cause,” Canberra United CEO Samantha Farrow said.

“Whilst we are sorry to see them depart, we fully understand their desire for a new challenge and wish them the best of luck in the next stage of their career.

“Their achievements with the club will not be forgotten.”

Canberra have a new head coach for the upcoming season – Antoni Jagarinec, who replaced Njegosh Popovich.

They have already lost three star players in Vesna MilivojevicChloe Lincoln and Sasha Grove.
