Canberra United have recruited “highly credentialed” New Zealand international defender Elizabeth Anton for the 2024-25 Liberty A-League season.
Anton makes the move to Canberra from A-Leagues rivals Perth Glory after four seasons in Western Australia.
The 25-year-old made her debut in 2020 and went on to appear in 62 games for Glory, scoring twice.

“I am excited to be coming to Canberra to join a club with such a proud and illustrious history,” Anton said.
“The team is well-known throughout the competition for being a place where they play attractive football, have a passionate fanbase, and really get behind the team and I am looking forward to experiencing that in green.
“I have fond memories of Canberra throughout my playing career and am looking forward to creating more at the club.”
The 18-time New Zealand international was part of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad.
Anton has also featured for New Zealand at the 2014 Under-17 World Cup, the 2016 U20 World Cup and the 2018 U20 World Cup.
She is Canberra’s second signing after Sally James, while A-Leagues legend and CommBank Matildas striker Michelle Heyman has also re-signed in the nation’s capital, along with Ruby Nathan, Hayley Taylor-Young, Sofia Christopherson and Holly Murray.
“We welcome Elizabeth to Canberra, and I am looking forward to working with her during the season,” head coach Antoni Jagarinec said.
“She brings a wealth of experience with her and will be a big addition to the squad.
“Elizabeth brings a presence to the position of central defence and has the streetwise nous that comes with having competed at the top-level for a long time. I am sure she will be a popular player amongst our fanbase.”
