Canberra sign familiar face from Turkish powerhouse

Canberra United have signed former Central Coast Mariners defender Jazmin Wardlow for the Ninja A-League 2025-26 season.

No stranger to the Ninja A-League, having played with the Mariners, Wardlow arrives from Turkish giants Galatasaray.

“Jazmin is a terrific addition to our squad for the new season,” said head coach Antoni Jagarinec. “She has experience of the league and is someone we have been tracking for a while.

“I’m sure our supporters will enjoy watching Jazmin in action. She has pace, is physical in the challenge, and has a wide range of passing from deep. Her knowledge will be vital for us this season, as we seek to build on reaching finals last year.

“I am delighted that Jazmin as signed a deal with the club and am positive she will prove to be an excellent acquisition.”

Wardlow attended Santa Clara University in 2015 and 2016 before switching to the University of Oregon and representing the Ducks in 2017 and 2018. Turning professional in 2019, Wardlow signed with Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

There followed spells in Europe with Spartak Subotica in the Serbian SuperLiga, Fiorentina in Italy’s Serie A, and Central Coast in the A-Leagues.

With the Mariners, Wardlow played 25 times in 2023-24, reaching the Semi-Finals.

Last season was spent with Galatasaray in the Turkish Super League, the club also playing in the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage where Wardlow competed against Wolfsburg, AS Roma, and Olympique Lyonnes.

“I am excited to be back in Australia and am really looking forward to playing for Canberra United in the Ninja A-League,” Wardlow said.

“From my time in the country with the Mariners, I am aware of the history and culture of Canberra United and have first-hand experience of the terrific support base we have that back us at every game.

“I am looking forward to joining up with the squad and helping push the team onwards in 2025-26 in the search for silverware.”
