Canberra United have signed American defender Sarah Clark for the remainder of the Liberty A-League season.
Clark arrives from National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) outfit North Carolina Courage and she is in contention to make her debut against Melbourne Victory in Round 8 on Saturday.
She joined North Carolina last season and made two appearances in the Challenge Cup, providing an assist on debut in the Courage’s 5-0 rout of Orlando Pride.

“We are delighted to be able to secure Sarah for the remainder of the season,” Canberra head Coach Njegosh Popovich said.
“Sarah is a solid defender, is speedy across the ground, possesses excellent positional sense, and is strong in the tackle. Her distribution is also top notch, and I have no doubt that she will settle into our culture and environment very quickly.”
Canberra celebrated their first win of the season last week – crushing Brisbane Roar 5-1 in the nation’s capital.
The two-time champions are 11th in the standings and seven points outside the top four, though they have two matches in hand.
Clark added: “I am excited by the opportunity to further my career by signing for Canberra United.
“The prospect of playing in Australia was one that I was keen to explore, and I am thankful for Njegosh and the club for giving me the chance to do so. I have read a lot about the club and am excited to get started.”
