Caltex Socceroos midfielder Mark Milligan was delighted to cap a “very good week” with Melbourne Victory’s first win of the Hyundai A-League season.
Milligan rolled the high of Wednesday night’s World Cup qualification into a much-needed 2-0 triumph away to Perth Glory on Sunday.
The 67-time international stressed the importance of quickly switching attention back to club matters.
“We did what we needed to do on Wednesday night with our families and each other,” Milligan told Fox Sports.
“It was good [but] you get that out of your system pretty quick because we all had to head back to clubland and scrap away.
“I’m focussed on Victory now. We’ve got a long time before the next national team break so it’s a good chance for our squad to settle down and start putting some good results together.”
Victory climbed four places to sixth with their assured display at nib Stadium and are now unbeaten in five matches.
“We knew we had to turn our season around soon,” Milligan said.
“We’ve been playing well in patches but haven’t really put together a full performance.
“It was a good performance today in not easy conditions.”
