Brisbane Roar have signed Ecuadorian winger Neicer Acosta on a one-season deal ahead of the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
The 21-year-old joins the club after a stint at Guayaquil City in Colombia’s Liga Pro Serie B. An Under-17 and Under-20 Ecuador international, Acosta has also played club football for MLS outfit Orlando City and Independiente del Valle in Colombia.
Described by the Roar as a winger “sure to get fans off their seats with his pace, power, and dribbling ability in the final third”, Acosta is Brisbane’s third visa signing of the off-season, joining Indonesia international Rafael Struick and Lebanon midfielder Walid Shour in orange.

Acosta’s signature was confirmed before the end of the transfer window which shut at 11:59pm AEST on Monday, September 16. The deal has since been publicised, shortly after the club confirmed Jez Lofthouse, Rylan Brownlie and Ryan Lethlean had all left the club following the conclusion of his contract.
The Ecuadorian, who will wear kit number 11 at the Roar, says his aim is to be an influential figure in the Brisbane lineup to help the club achieve success.
“I wanted to start by thanking the club for the opportunity to belong to a great institution. One of the main motivations for reaching the A-League was Brisbane Roar, because it is a leading club within a growing and visible league,” Acosta said.
“It also motivated me to know that it is a stable, and safe country, with a beautiful culture, a pleasant climate and respectful people, where I will be able to dedicate myself exclusively to my work without problems and distractions.
“My ambitions are, first of all, to help the club be successful and win many games. On a personal level, be influential for my teammates and shine in the league.”
