Brisbane Roar have signed United States youth international Marcus Ferkranus on a two-year deal set to last until the end of the 2025-26 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
Ferkranus, 21, joins the Roar from Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy. The central defender is a product of the LA Galaxy academy, and made 55 appearances across six seasons with LA Galaxy II in the USL Championship and MLS NEXT Pro.
The U20 international helped his nation qualify for both the 2023 U20 World Cup and 2024 Olympic Games.
Ferkranus won’t occupy one of Brisbane’s visa player slots due to his Australian mother who was born and raised in Sydney; the defender lived in Noosa for four years of his childhood and has several family members in Brisbane.
“I’m very excited to be coming to play for the Roar and I’m ready to give everything to this club and for these fans,” Ferkranus said.
“This was the first professional club I watched live as a young kid growing up here and it means so much to me to come back here and fight for this badge.
“I’m excited to be playing for a great new coach and ready to bring lots of success to this club. I want to help bring a championship back to Brisbane.”
