Brisbane Roar have agreed to terminate the contract of Rocky Visconte, who is now in talks with Western Sydney Wanderers.
Brisbane Roar have agreed to mutually terminate the contract of winger Rocky Visconte, effective immediately.
Visconte, whose contract runs out at the end of the current season, has been unable to break into the first team this season as the Roar have struggled to rediscover their best form.
Media reports today suggested Visctone was set to join Western Sydney Wanderers but the club denied any deal had yet been done.
“The club is talking to Rocky,” a Wanderers spokesman said. “He is a talented player and a good fit for our culture, and we are looking to him to potentially bolster the midfield on the left side.
“But nothing has been signed and he is not here yet.”
Brisbane boss Mike Mulvey thanked Visconte for his contribution and commitment to the club.
“Rocky has worked hard at training since I arrived at the club and we wish him the best of luck for the future,” Mulvey said.
“These decisions are never taken lightly, but we felt it was the right thing to do at this point in time.
“At this stage of his career Rocky needs to play first team football and he was not likely to figure in our first team plans.”
The Adeaide-born winger made 24 appearances for the club after signing from Scottish Premier League outfit Heart of Midlothian, and will be best remembered for his contribution to Brisbane’s late equaliser in the 2011 Grand Final.
