Brisbane Roar sign Norwegian international defender on loan

Brisbane Roar have bolstered their defensive unit for the remainder of the 2025-26 Isuzu UTE A-League campaign with the signing of Norwegian central defender Marius Lode.

The 32-year-old arrives in Queensland on loan from Swedish side BK Häcken for the remainder of the campaign.

Lode brings with him a strong European pedigree, having played in both the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League within the last 12 months.

“I’m really excited to join Brisbane Roar and experience a new competition,” said Lode after sealing his loan move.

“I’ve played in different leagues and environments, and I want to bring that experience here.

He added: “I’m ready to work hard for the team and give the supporters something to be proud of.”

Playing close to 200 games for Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt, Lode also spent time with German giants Schalke 04 and brings significant pedigree to the Isuzu UTE A-League according to his new Head Coach, Michael Valkanis.

“Marius joins us as a strong, calm in possession and tactically intelligent defender,” said Valkanis.

“His experience across European competition will add leadership and stability to our group for the remainder of the season and we look forward to welcoming him here to the club.”

Lode will join the squad immediately and could well feature for Brisbane Roar against Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park this Saturday.
