Brisbane break their losing streak in Perth

Brisbane have broken their three match losing streak with a come from behind 2-1 win over Perth Glory at HBF Park.

Chris Long and Sam Klein were the goal scorers for the Roar after Adam Taggart had opened the scoring for Perth Glory.

Taggart scored in the 19th minute after he was put in by a brilliant outside of the boot assist from Trent Ostler, creating an opportunity the 32-year-old was never going to pass up.

It was his 59th goal in Perth purple, putting him equal with Andy Keogh for most Glory goals in the A-League era.

The Roar had the scoreline back level within 10 minutes after Adam Kersey pointed to the spot following a lengthy VAR consultation for a handball after Sam Klein’s shot cannoned into Taggart’s outstretched arm.

Chris Long thumped the resulting penalty past Matt Sutton, and the sides went into half time a goal apiece.

Brisbane took the lead within five minutes of the restart via Klein, whose header looped over Sutton and in after the Glory couldn’t clear their lines.

Brisbane had some late chances to make the scoreline 3-1 and were handed a couple of late scares when Bouzanis had to make saves off Seb Despotovski and Taggart.

The win means that Brisbane leapfrog Melbourne City to third on the table, a position they’ll be trying to consolidate when they take on Adelaide United next Saturday afternoon.

Perth, on the other hand, are ninth and could be overtaken Wellington after this round of results.

They next play Western Sydney Wanderers at Commbank Stadium next Sunday.
