Western Sydney Wanderers star Brandon Borrello will be sidelined for the next three months due to a foot fracture.
Borrello hobbled off the field in the first half of the Wanderers’ 1-0 win over cross-town rivals Sydney FC in Saturday night’s Isuzu UTE A-League Derby.
The Socceroos forward, who came off second best in a challenge with Luke Brattan, was seen on crutches during the game and now league-leading Western Sydney have confirmed the unfortunate injury news.

It means Borrello will miss Australia’s AFC Asian Cup campaign in Qatar in January.
He scored in the Socceroos’ first 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup qualifier – a 7-0 rout of Bangladesh earlier in November.
“The entire Western Sydney Wanderers family will be supporting Brandon through his surgery and recovery and look forward to seeing him back at what he does best, representing both his club and country in 2024,” the club said in a statement.
Borrello had featured in all five matches for A-League Men leaders Western Sydney, supplying two assists, while he scored three goals in the Australia Cup.
The 28-year-old scored 13 goals in 27 matches during his maiden season with the Wanderers in 2022-23.
