Brisbane Roar land history-making teen who’s blazing a trail for her nation

The youngest ever goal scorer for Singapore’s national team joins Brisbane Roar for the 2024/25 Liberty A-League season.

Brisbane Roar have signed Singapore sensation Danelle Tan ahead of the 2024-25 Liberty A-League season.

Tan arrives amid much hype as she holds the record for being the youngest footballer to play for Singapore’s Under-19 women’s national team (13) and the youngest goalscorer for the senior national team (14).

The 19-year-old striker is also the fifth youngster international goalscorer in women’s football and the first Singaporean woman to play football in Europe, having won the league with unbeaten Borussia Dortmund in Germany’s fifth-tier Landesliga.

“I’m really excited about joining Brisbane Roar. The club presented a professional opportunity and environment that I felt would be best for my development,” Tan said.

“I’m just looking to hit the ground running and settle in as quickly as possible. I want to learn and grow as much as I can as a player training in an elite environment with a very high level of players.”

Tan has made 22 appearances for Singapore, scoring seven goals for the national team.

During her time with Dortmund, she scored 16 goals in 27 matches.

Tan will link up with Matildas duo Sharn Freier and Tameka Yallop at the Roar, who finished ninth last season.

“It’s always a dream of players to play with and against the best players to challenge yourself and see where you stand,” Tan said.

“Obviously to have players this like in your own team to learn from and see how they train day in, day out to get to the standard they’re at.

“As an attacking player myself, I just want to learn as much as I can.”
