Bayern Munich superstar Franck Ribery has not ruled out a potential move to the Hyundai A-League next season.
Ribery is on the lookout for a new club after it was confirmed over the weekend he would end his trophy-laden 12-year stint at Bayern at the end of the current Bundesliga campaign.
Talk of Ribery potentially moving Down Under first surfaced in March when Western Sydney coach Markus Babbel revealed he had spoken to the Frenchman about joining the Wanderers.
Now 36, Ribery wants to keep playing for at least another “one or two years” and declared money will not be a factor when choosing his next destination.
At a press conference on Sunday confirming this would be his last season at Bayern, Ribery was asked directly about the possibility of joining Babbel in Australia.
“You know that I played football because of the fun and to enjoy it. I love football,” he told reporters in Munich.
“If you play well, then you make yourself a great name and the money comes on its own. You earn money for what you did. I do not just play for money.
But why should I not go to [Markus] Babbel? I do not know. There are many options. I’m not sure yet where I’m going.”
Babbel is planning a major squad overhaul at the Wanderers, cutting 11 players from this season’s roster last week.
Ribery has been a valuable member of Bayern’s side this season, with the club closing in on yet another Bundesliga title. He has played in 23 games in the league and found the net five times.

He lifted the Champions League trophy with Bayern in 2013 and has won an incredible eight Bundesliga titles since joining the club in 2007, with the chance to make it nine if they beat RB Leipzig this weekend.
Ribery also made 81 appearances for France and played for them in the World Cup Final in 2006.
