Socceroo left out in Australia Cup Final bombshell as Germain replacement revealed

The team news is in for Sunday night’s Australia Cup Final between Melbourne Victory and Macarthur FC – and Patrick Kisnorbo has dropped a bombshell.

Melbourne Victory have left Socceroos winger Daniel Arzani out of their squad entirely for the Australia Cup Final in a shock selection decision by new boss Patrick Kisnorbo.

Arzani had featured in all four matches on Victory’s road to the Final at AAMI Park, but will take no part in the decider with Reno Piscopo and Nishan Velupillay starting on the wings instead. The ex-Macarthur man is not even on the substitutes bench.

“Daniel Arzani has been left out of Victory’s squad,” ESPN’s Joey Lynch wrote on X.

“Asked why and was told that Patrick Kisnorbo was experimenting and looking at different options ahead of round one of the ALM season – which Arzani is suspended for.”

Meanwhile, Macarthur FC’s solution to the absence of suspended captain Valere Germain has been revealed, with Jake Hollman starting up front as a false nine, flanked by Marin Jakolis and speedster Jed Drew.

New signing Luke Brattan will be skipper for the day as he aims to lead the Bulls to glory, which would see him claim back-to-back Australia Cup titles after lifting the silverware last year with Sydney FC.

Melbourne Victory XI: Jack Duncan; Kasey Bos, Brendan Hamill, Roderick Miranda (c), Jason Geria; Jordi Valadon, Zinedine Machach, Ryan Teague; Reno Piscopo, Nikos Vergos, Nishan Velupillay.

Macarthur FC XI: Filip Kurto; Ivan Vujica, Matthew Jurman, Tomislav Uskok; Walter Scott, Liam Rose, Luke Brattan, Kealey Adamson; Marin Jakolis, Jed Drew, Jake Hollman.
