The upcoming Round 7 encounter will pit record-breaking league leaders Auckland against fourth-placed Wellington, with five points separating the two teams.

The Black Knights scored two goals in the final seven minutes of regulation to take down Newcastle Jets 2-0 last week as they made it five wins from five games to start life in the Isuzu UTE A-League.

With the victory, newcomers and league leaders Auckland became just the second team in Australian national men’s league history to win their first five games after Sydney’s Western Suburbs in 1977, per Andy Howe.

Auckland are yet to concede a goal in the A-Leagues. Steve Corica’s record-breakers created a new Australian national league record for the longest time before conceding a first ever goal, surpassing Western Suburbs, who conceded their first goal in the 53rd minute of the club’s fifth game 47 years ago.

As for the Phoenix, the 2023-24 Semi-Finalists are coming off the bye in Round 6.

During Unite Round, Giancarlo Italiano’s Wellington upstaged previously unbeaten Melbourne Victory 1-0 in Sydney.
