Adelaide United coach Gui Amor says the club is working hard in the transfer window with new faces “possible” before the window closes this week.
Rumours swirled at Coopers Stadium on Sunday – where the Reds drew 2-2 with Wellington Phoenix – the club was close to signing a new Spanish player after striker Sergi Guardiola was released last week.
Former Reds striker Eli Babalj – currently a free agent – is also currently trialling with the Reds.
Asked about the chances of bringing in some fresh faces this week, Amor said: “The club is working on this.
“Until this moment players have been going and don’t arrive but I think the club is moving and it’s possible in the next few days until the close of the market some players will arrive.”
And the Reds could do with some reinforcements after they dropped back to the foot of the Hyundai A-League ladder after being held at home by Wellington.
In scorching conditions, Adelaide took an early lead through youngster Riley McGree only to surrender the advantage before the break as they conceded twice when hit in transition.

“When you are winning you want more [goals], you have confidence,” Amor said.
“It’s possible the players in the game see the opportunity to get the second goal. I like it when you’re winning to go for the second, go for the third, go for the fourth. This is football.
“But it’s also important to be intelligent, to have control in every moment. We knew that Wellington in transition is fast, is dangerous with players like [Roy] Krishna, with [Roly] Bonevacia.”
It took a Nikola Mileusnic goal 10 minutes from time to salvage a point for Adelaide and despite some intense late pressure they were unable to find a winner.
The Reds travel to Canberra next Sunday for a clash with Central Coast Mariners.
