After a brilliant start to their title defence, the Roar have faltered badly during the past two weeks, losing three matches on the trot.
While Brisbane’s form has dropped off dramatically, the Mariners have been firing and are unbeaten in seven matches.
Coach Graham Arnold has the Mariners playing brilliantly with youngsters Bernie Ibini and Mustafa Amini outstanding in attack.
The pair have formed a wonderful combination up front and will be out to continue their good form when the Mariners take on the Roar at Suncorp Stadium for the second time this season.
When the teams met earlier in the season the Queenslanders got the points but had to fight all the way.
The Mariners are playing much better now and are confident of inflicting another defeat on the Roar.
Amini, who plays at the pointy end of Arnold’s midfield diamond, cannot wait for the challenge of taking on the Roar.
“They’ll be up for it and so will we,” Amini said.
Amini needed a long break after returning from the under-20 World Cup in Colombia and is only now hitting peak form.
He has started the past three games and been among the Mariners best in wins over the Melbourne Heart, Adelaide and Newcastle.
“After not having a break in two years the body needed a break after the World Cup,” he said.
“I feel stronger than I ever have.”
