INS AND OUTS – ROUND 3
NEWCASTLE JETS v PERTH GLORY
Newcastle Jets squad: 1. Georgina WORTH, 3. Emily GARNIER, 4. Josie ALLAN, 5. Leia PUXTY, 6. Cass DAVIS, 7. Chloe WANDALOUW 9. Tara ANDREWS, 10. Sophie STAPLEFORD, 11. Tessa TAMPLIN, 12. Murphy AGNEW, 13. Lauren ALLAN, 14. Lucy JOHNSON, 15. Sarah GRIFFITH, 18. Taren KING, 19. Ashlee BRODIGAN, 20. Claire COELHO 22. Cannon CLOUGH, 24. Josie MORLEY, 29. Adriana KONJARSKI.
Ins: 19. Ashlee BRODIGAN, 29. Adriana KONJARSKI
Outs: 23. Teigen ALLEN, 25. Lara GOOCH
Squad analysis: Ashlee Brogan and Adriana Konjarski come into a Newcastle Jets side flying into Round 3. Tara Andrews made a first start of the season in last weekend’s 4-2 win over Western Sydney, finding the back of the net once in a win otherwise dominated by Sarah Griffith who bagged a Round 2 hat-trick.
Fantasy tip: Get Murphy Agnew in your team as soon as possible. The 24-year-old Unites States forward is set to make her third appearance of the season this weekend – a marker which sees all player prices fluctuate dependant on good or bad form. Agnew is the highest-scoring player in the game, and is currently priced at just $150K. Expect Agnew’s value to skyrocket after this weekend.
Perth Glory Squad: 1.Morgan AQUINO (gk), 3.Kim CARROLL, 4.Natasha RIGBY (c), 6.Tijan MCKENNA, 7.Liz ANTON, 8.Hana LOWRY, 9.Demi KOULIZAKIS, 10.Susan PHONSONGKHAM, 11.Rylee BAISDEN, 12.Sofia SAKALIS, 13.Sarah CAIN, 15.Cyera HINTZEN, 16.Isabella WALLHEAD, 17.Abbey GREEN, 18.Sadie LAWRENCE, 20.Sarah LANGMAN (gk), 21.Ella MASTRANTONIO, 23.Alana JANCEVSKI, 42.Gabriella COLEMAN
Ins: 6.Tijan MCKENNA, 9.Demi KOULIZAKIS, 18.Sadie LAWRENCE
Outs: None
Unavailable: 22.Claudia MIHOCIC (injured), 24.Milan HAMMOND (injured)
Squad analysis: Young midfielder Tijan McKenna joins Demi Koulizakis and Sadie Lawrence in pushing to break into Alex Epakis’ Glory squad after a 1-0 loss to Adelaide United in Round 2. United States forward Cyera Hintzen made her first start of the season last weekend and will hope to retain her spot in the starting XI despite going goalless against the Reds.
Fantasy tip: Exciting Glory midfielder Hana Lowry has been involved in 18 attacking sequences this season, more than any other player (Opta). The Young Matildas star is yet to produce the fantasy points to match – but the statistic show an uplift in output is just around the corner.

MELBOURNE CITY V BRISBANE ROAR
Melbourne City squad: 1. Sally JAMES (GK), 3. Naomi CHINNAMA, 4. Chelsea BLISSETT, 6. Leticia MCKENNA, 7. Julia GROSSO, 8. Kaitlyn TORPEY, 10. Rhianna POLLICINA, 13. Emina EKIC, 14. Katie BOWEN, 15. Emma CHECKER (C), 18. Leah DAVIDSON, 19. Maria Jose ROJAS, 20. Caitlin KARIC, 21. Isabella ACCARDO, 22. Bryleeh HENRY, 23. Melissa BARBIERI (GK), 24. Daniela GALIC, 25. Darcey MALONE.
In: 15. Emma CHECKER (returns from injury), 20. Caitlin KARIC (promoted).
Out: Nil
Unavailable: 5. Tori TUMETH (ACL), 9. Holly MCNAMARA (ACL), 16. Karly ROESTBAKKEN (foot), 17. Hannah WILKINSON (quad).
Squad analysis: Melbourne City come back from the bye bolstered by Matildas defender Emma Checker’s return – but there’s still no Hannah Wilkinson, whose early-season absence with a quad injury continues into Round 3.
Fantasy tip: Young Matildas midfielder Daniela Galic looms as one of the value fantasy picks after scoring 11 points in Round 1 – an excellent return considering her $155K starting price. Keep an eye on the team sheets and consider bringing Galic into your side if interim City boss Dario Vidosic retains the 16-year-old in his starting side.
Brisbane Roar squad: 1.Isabella SHUTTLEWORTH (gk), 2. Annabel HAFFENDEN, 3.Jessie RASSCHAERT, 4.Kijah STEPHENSON, 5.Jamilla RANKIN, 6.Holly MCQUEEN, 7.Ayesha NORRIE(c), 8.Mariel HECHER, 9.Larissa CRUMMER, 11. Sharn FREIER, 12.Shea CONNORS, 13.Tamar LEVIN, 19.Hollie PALMER, 20.Georgia BEAUMONT, 23.Kajsa LIND, 21.Mia BAILEY (gk), 31.Aleeah DAVERN, 51.Hensley HANCUFF (gk), 78.Margot ROBBINE
Ins: Nil
Outs: Nil
Unavailable: 10.Katrina GORRY, 17.Talitha KRAMER (Injury), 18.Teagan THOMPSON
Squad analysis: More of the same for the Roar after last week’s 1-1 draw with Canberra United, with head coach Garrath McPherson naming no changes to his Round 2 squad.
Fantasy tip: It appears Larissa Crummer is ready for a big season in Brisbane. The Matildas spearhead has two goals in two and will press on in pursuit of more goals in Round 3 with motivation to make next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup squad with the Matildas firmly on the mind.

WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS V SYDNEY FC
Western Sydney Wanderers FC: 1.Jordyn BLOOMER (GK), 2.Alexia APOSTOLAKIS, 4.Angelique HRISOTODOULOU, 5.Lauren KEIR, 6.Amy CHESSARI, 7.Amy HARRISON, 8.Olivia PRICE, 9.Sophie HARDING, 10.Sienna SAVESKA, 11.Danika MATOS, 12.Theresa BOADE, 13, 14.Clare HUNT, 15.Cushla RUE, 16.Malia STEINMETZ, 17.Sheridan GALLAGHER, 18.Bethany GORDON, 20.Shamiran KHAMIS (GK), 23.Ella ABDUL-MASSIH, 25.Holly CASPERS, 29.Melissa CACERES.
Ins: 6.Amy CHESSARI (promoted), 10.Sienna SAVESKA (promoted), 15.Cushla RUE (promoted), 17.Sheridan GALLAGHER (promoted), 23.Ella ABDUL-MASSIH (promoted)
Outs: Nil
Unavailable: Nil
Squad analysis: Sheridan Gallagher, who captained the Young Matildas at the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, is the big in for the Wanderers in Round 4. Head coach Kat Smith has a deep squad to choose from in Round 3, and may opt to make changes to a side which shipped four goals in defeat to Newcastle last weekend.
Fantasy tip: Holly Caspers to find her maiden Liberty A-League goal in red and black after an off-season move from Canberra United.
Sydney FC squad: 1. Jada WHYMAN, 2. Mary STANIC-FLOODY, 3. Charlotte MCLEAN, 4. Anna GREEN, 5. Kirsty FENTON, 6. Sarah HUNTER, 8. Rachel LOWE, 9. Madison HALEY, 10. Remy SIEMSEN, 11. Cortnee VINE, 12. Natalie TOBIN (capt), 14. Abbey LEMON, 15. Mackenzie HAWKESBY, 16. Deborah-Anne DE LA HARPE, 17. Jynaya DOS SANTOS, 19. Charlize RULE, 20. Princess IBINI, 21. Shay HOLLMAN, 24. Shay EVANS, 30. Katie OFFER.
(2-4 to be omitted)
Ins: 4. Anna GREEN (promoted), 8. Rachel LOWE (promoted), 17. Jynaya DOS SANTOS (promoted), 24. Shay EVANS (promoted).
Outs: None
Unavailable: 18. Taylor RAY (injured)
Squad analysis: Competition for places in the premiers’ starting XI is fierce heading into Round 3. A convincing win over Melbourne Victory sends Ante Juric’s side steaming into the weekend; United States import Madison Haley found a goal on debut but will be challenged by Remy Siemsen for the number nine role. Football Ferns full-back Anna Green is promoted to the squad to contend with the likes of Charlize Rule, Kirsty Fenton and Deborah-Anne De la Harpe for a starting defensive role.
Fantasy tip: Cortnee Vine loves a big occasion – and despite failing to get off the mark across Round 1 and 2, the Matildas winger will be eyeing a goal against her former side.

MELBOURNE VICTORY V WELLINGTON PHOENIX
Melbourne Victory squad: 1.Casey DUMONT, 2. Tiffany ELIADIS, 3.Claudia BUNGE, 5.Jessika NASH, 6.Beattie GOAD, 7.Gema SIMON, 8.Alana MURPHY, 10.Alex CHIDIAC, 14.Melina AYRES, 15.Amy JACKSON, 16.Paige ZOIS, 18.Kayla MORRISON, 19.Lia PRIVITELLI, 20.Miranda TEMPLEMAN, 21.Elise KELLOND-KNIGHT, 22.Ava BRIEDIS, 23.Emily KOS, 24.Anna LIACOPOULOS, 27.Rosie CURTIS
In: 7.Gema SIMON (returns from injury), 19.Lia PRIVITELLI (returns from injury), 15.Amy JACKSON (returns from injury) 24.Anna LIACOPOULOS (promoted)
Out: 9.Catherine ZIMMERMAN (injured)
Unavailable: 17.Maja MARKOVSKI (injured), 11.Natalie TATHEM (injured)
Squad analysis: No Catherine Zimmerman for Victory this week, who underwent surgery on Tuesday for a fractured fibula suffered against Sydney FC in Round 2. Victory named both Gema Simon and Lia Privitelli for last weekend’s Big Blue, but neither made the match day squad. The experienced pair join Amy Jackson in being named as key ins for Round 3.
Fantasy tip: After a Round 2 own goal, expect Kayla Morrison to bounce back against the Phoenix in an attempt to lead the champions to their first clean sheet of the season.
Wellington Phoenix squad: 2. Saskia VOSPER, 4. Mackenzie BARRY, 5. Marisa VAN DER MEER, 6. Isabel GOMEZ, 7. Chloe KNOTT, 8. Grace WISNEWSKI, 9. Ava PRITCHARD, 10. Alyssa WHINHAM, 11. Betsy HASSETT, 12. Brianna EDWARDS (gk), 13. Paige SATCHELL, 14. Michaela ROBERTSON, 15. Zoe MCMEEKEN, 17. Claudia CICCO, 18. Te Reremoana WALKER, 19. Charlotte LANCASTER, 20. Milly CLEGG, 21. Michaela FOSTER, 22. Georgia CANDY (gk).
In: Isabel GOMEZ (return from injury).
Out: 3. Kate TAYLOR (injured).
Unavailable: 1. Lily ALFELD (gk) (injured), 3. Kate TAYLOR (injured), 6. Isabel GOMEZ (injured), 16.Emma ROLSTON (injured), 8. Grace WISNEWSKI.
Squad analysis: Wellington are without Kate Taylor for Round 3, with the first choice central defender in need of time off after collecting an ankle injury which she’s carried through the early part of the season.
Fantasy tip: New Zealand international Marisa van der Meer scored 10 points as a defender in Round 2 despite conceding four goals in defeat to Western United; the Football Fern scored Wellington’s only goal of the match and at just $165K could prove decent fantasy value.

ADELAIDE UNITED V WESTERN UNITED
Adelaide United squad: 1.Annalee GROVE (gk), 2.Emily HODGSON, 6.Jenna McCORMICK, 7.MelindaJ BARBIERI, 8.Emily CONDON, 9.Paige HAYWARD, 10.Chelsie DAWBER, 11.Isabel HODGSON (c), 12.Nanako SASAKI, 13.Ella TONKIN, 14.Meisha WESTLAND, 15.Katie BOWLER, 16.Dylan HOLMES, 17.Zoe TOLLAND, 18.Sasha COOREY, 19.Maruschka WALDUS, 20.Jenna FARROW (gk), 21.Yuyi XIAO, 22.Emilia MURRAY, 26.Grace WILSON (gk)
Ins: 2.Emily HODGSON (returns from illness), 17.Zoe TOLLAND (promoted), 18.Sasha COOREY (promoted), 20.Jenna FARROW (promoted)
Outs: nil
Unavailable: 23.Fiona WORTS (knock)
Squad analysis: Emily Hodgson is back from illness – but the key update prior to Round 3 is the continued absence of Fiona Worts from the Adelaide squad. The Julie Dolan Medallist was a shock withdrawal from her side’s trip to Perth in Round 2 and misses out again with a knock.
Fantasy preview: Chelsie Dawber looks to be hitting her stride. Scores of eight and 11 to start the season are encouraging; the Reds star has been incredibly unselfish in and around the penalty area early in the season, and you can expect those numbers to rise if Dawber begins to find her shooting form.
Western United squad: 1. Alyssa DALL’OSTE (gk), 2. Stacey PAPADOPOULOS, 4. Jaclyn SAWICKI (c), 5. Aimee MEDWIN, 6. Chloe LOGARZO, 7. Francesca IERMANO, 8. Jessica McDONALD, 9. Hannah KEANE, 11. Emma ROBERS, 14. Natasha DAKIC, 15. Adriana TARANTO, 16. Melissa TARANTO, 18. Aleksandra SINCLAIR, 19. Tyla Jay VLAJNIC, 20. Sydney CUMMINGS, 21. Hillary BEALL (gk), 22. Alana CERNE, 24. Julia SARDO
Ins: 5. Aimee MEDWIN (promoted), 14. Natasha DAKIC, 18. Aleksandra SINCLAIR
Outs: 10. Kahli JOHNSON (injured)
Unavailable: 12. Harriet WITHERS (injured)
*two to be omitted
Squad analysis: Kahli Johnson drops out of the Western squad through injury after starting the opening two games of the season. Head coach Mark Torcaso made just one change to his lineup between Round 1-2, and expect there to be plenty of consistency in his next starting XI as Western look to go three wins from three to start the season.
Fantasy tip: Hannah Keane was in frightening form against Wellington in Round 2, scoring two and assisting another to breach the 30-point fantasy mark – a feat only two players across the A-Leagues have managed this season (Keane and Newcastle’s SarahGriffith, both in Round 2 of the Liberty A-League Season).
