Glory teen nominated for Young Footballer of the Year after just four A-Leagues games

Catch all the highlights from an action-packed fourth round of the Liberty A-League 2023-24.

Junior Matildas midfielder Georgia Cassidy has been rewarded for her stellar start to life in the Liberty A-League, earning the October nomination for Young Footballer of the Year.

Cassidy, 18, has started all four games for Perth since her off-season signature, playing an instrumental role in her side’s ascension to the top of the table with four wins from four to begin the campaign.

Having trained with the squad under head coach Alex Epakis last season, Cassidy earned her chance to sign for Glory, her childhood club, after excelling with Hyundai NTC in the NPLW WA and winning the AFF U18 Women’s Championship in 2022 with the Junior Matildas.

Cassidy was voted the October nominee for Young Footballer of the Year by a panel of experts comprising Rae Dower, Leah Blayney, Cheryl Downes, Teo Pellizzeri, Rhali Dobson and Kate Gill, earning the lion’s share of votes ahead of the likes of Kahli Johnson, Chloe Lincoln, Alana Murphy, Jessika Nash, Daniela Galic, Manaia Elliot, Grace Kuilamu and Glory teammate Grace Johnston.

Cassidy and Glory are next in action on Saturday, November 18 at Macedonia Park as they take on Melbourne Victory in a massive Liberty A-League clash.
