The Australian Professional Leagues (APL) has announced updates to the 2024-25 Ninja A-League fixture, specifically relating to Melbourne Victory’s upcoming game with Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday, January 5.
Based on the latest weather forecasts the APL, in consultation with the clubs, has taken the proactive step of delaying the start of this Sunday’s Ninja A-League match between Melbourne Victory and Western Sydney Wanderers.
Initially scheduled to kick off at 5pm (AEDT) at the Home of the Matildas, the fixture will now get underway at 8pm (AEDT) due to extreme temperatures predicted on the day.
In accordance with APL’s Heat Policy, A-Leagues matches may be delayed or postponed where the Ambient Temperature measures at or above 38 degrees Celsius, and/or where the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) measures at 28 degrees Celsius or above.

APL’s weather forecast data for the Home of the Matildas on Sunday indicates that the Ambient Temperature may measure at or above 38 degrees Celsius at around 5:00pm.
With this in mind, APL in consultation with Melbourne Victory have determined to delay kick-off to 8:00pm AEDT in keeping with safety threshold measures prescribed within APL’s Heat Policy, and to allow fans and other stakeholders to proactively prepare for this adjusted kick-off time in advance.
