Central Coast Mariners have re-signed another key member of their 2023-24 squad, handing Young Matilda Peta Trimis a new two-year deal.
Initially joining the Mariners on a scholarship deal in 2023, teenage sensation Trimis soon became an important part of Emily Husband’s side as the season progressed.
Making her debut in Round 1 against Newcastle, the 18-year-old continued to impress in the first half of the season and she was soon rewarded with a new upgraded contract, going from scholar to first-team pro within the space of four months.

“I am really excited to extend my contract with the Mariners,” said Trimis. “Joining the club last season for my first year in the league, I felt right at home straight away, and I had an amazing time with the team.
“We had a really strong season, making it to the semi- finals, and I know that the girls are eager to go even further this year.
“Working with Emily and the coaching staff, I learnt so much, and I feel that the Mariners is the perfect place for me to continue to grow as a footballer.
She aded: “After the U20’s World Cup in Colombia, I can’t wait get back to the Coast, meet up with the group again and get to work ahead of a massive season.”
The re-signing of Trimis means Central Coast are slowly crafting their new-look squad for the upcoming A-Leagues campaign and head coach Husband is delighted to have tied down one of the club’s key players.

“Peta had a standout season for us last year and I am really excited to be able to
work with her again,” said Husband after news of the deal was revealed.
“She is a young player with so much potential, we truly believe that she is a special talent who will be at the forefront of our group this year.
Husband continued: “For some players it takes them a couple of seasons to really break through into the A-League, Peta did that in one season with us.
“Coming into the squad on a scholarship and ending on a full contract shows just how well she did. We want to continue to help her progress and can’t wait to have her back with us.”
The good news regarding Trimis’ re-signing comes off the back of a series of big exits at Industree Group Stadium.
With Kyah Simon, Casey Dumont, Paige Hayward and Faye Bryson all leaving as well as the likes of important first team players Wurigumula and Rola Badawiya, Husband has been forced to completely revamp last season’s semi-finalists.
However the arrival of former Sydney FC midfielder and three-time A-Leagues champion Taylor Ray will certainly strengthen the Mariners, as will the re-signings of Annalise Rasmussen, Ash Irwin and Isabel Gomez.
