Matildas star headlines four big exits from Central Coast Mariners

Central Coast Mariners have announced major changes to their squad ahead of the upcoming Liberty A-League campaign, revealing Kyah Simon, Casey Dumont, Faye Bryson and Paige Hayward will all be leaving the club.

All four players played a pivotal role in helping the Mariners reach the semi-finals in what was their first season back in the Liberty A-League but will now depart Industree Group Stadium following the expiration of their contracts.

Arriving off the back of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, Matildas veteran Simon eventually featured in 12 matches for the Mariners after recovering from injury.

Back on the Central Coast for the first time in 15 years, 32-year-old Simon made her long awaited return from an ACL injury in Round 14 and ultimately finished the season with three goals and one assist.

Joining the club from Women’s Super League side Reading, defender Bryson played an integral role for coach Emily Husband in the 2023-24 season, playing in 21 matches.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Dumont departs the club after just one season having returned to the Liberty A-League after time away from the game.

Renowned as a penalty expert, Dumont will be fondly remembered by Mariners fans for her spot-kick heroics as she saved two and scored one against former side Melbourne Victory in the Elimination Finals.

Finally, forward Hayward leaves the club after making 24 appearances and scoring one goal for the Mariners in season 2023-24.

“Everyone at the Mariners thanks Faye, Kyah, Casey and Paige for their important
contributions to our historic return season to the Liberty A-League,” said head coach Husband following the announcement of the player’s departures.

“They all played a valuable role in us reaching the semi-finals and will forever be a part of Mariners history. I wish them nothing but the best for the future.

Husband added: “We have a number of exciting announcements that we look forward to being able to share with the Mariners Family soon, including re-signings and some new recruits joining us ahead of what promises to be a huge season.”
