Central Coast Mariners have secured the future of another key member of their first team squad with confirmation midfielder Isabel Gomez has signed a new two-year contract.
Arriving from Wellington ahead of the club’s return to the Liberty A-League last season, Gomez went on to play a pivotal role for Emily Husband’s side as they reached the Semi-Finals stage.
Playing 24 games and missing just 54 minutes of action across the whole campaign, 22-year-old Gomez established herself as a mainstay in the heart of the Mariners’ midfield with her performances ultimately earning her three awards at the club’s end of season awards night.
“It is fantastic to have Izzy staying here on the Coast for another two years,” said Central Coast head coach Emily Husband.
“She was brilliant last season and it was great to watch her achieve what she did on a personal level, as well as what she helped us achieve as a team and club.”
Husband continued: “Having someone of her quality sign a multi-year deal, it helps us build a strong foundation moving forward with this team.

“What she was able to do last season was fantastic, but we have no doubt that she will be able to achieve even more in the future with the club.”
Having excelled in the middle of the park for the Mariners in season 2023-24, Gomez was then rewarded with a first ever call-up to the Australian U23 side which participated at the Four Nations Tournament in Växjö.
“I’m super excited to be coming back to the Mariners,” said Gomez after news of her new contract extension was made public.
“We did so well as a team and club last season and I loved being a part of the group. The way that I played last year with a lot of confidence, I got a lot of support from the team and coaching staff, so I just could not say no to coming back to the Coast.
She added: “I can’t wait for the team to all be together, have the new players in to see what they can do. I think we are in for a big year, and I can’t wait to get started.”

News of Gomez’s re-signing will no doubt come as a welcome boost for the Mariners, who are currently in the midst of a squad re-build on the Coast.
Following the departures of Matildas star Kyah Simon, goalkeeper Casey Dumont, defender Faye Bryson and forward Paige Hayward, Gomez’ re-signing follows on from the arrival of former Sydney FC star Taylor Ray while academy product Annalise Rasmussen has also signed a new two-year deal.
