Auckland FC star Jake Brimmer is now in line to take on some of European football’s biggest names after switching his international allegiance to Malta.
The 27-year-old has represented Australia at numerous youth levels including under-17’s and under-20’s but has now opted to switch his allegiance to Malta.

Having played over 170 Isuzu UTE A-League matches for the likes of Perth Glory, Melbourne Victory and now Auckland FC Brimmer will bring plenty of experience to a Maltese side currently bidding to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Pitted in a group with the Netherlands, Poland, Finland and Lithuania, Malta currently sit bottom of Group G having lost three of their opening four qualification matches.

Having most recently been thrashed 8-0 by the Netherlands thanks to goals from the likes of Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk, Aston Villa’s Donyell Malen, Spurs defender Mickey van der Ven and RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons.
Now officially eligible for Malta, Brimmer’s first game for The Reds could come in September when their World Cup qualification campaign continues with an away trip to Lithuania.
Following that Malta then have a home clash against the Netherlands before facing Bosnia and Herzegovina in an international friendly clash.
