The 29-year-old has two years remaining on his current Adelaide United contract but requested to explore the opportunity to move abroad, with the club ultimately granting his request.

“This opportunity for me and my family was too good to turn down,” said Mauk in a farewell address to the fans.

“I’m excited for this new challenge but I’m sad to be leaving. I felt like this was the best move for my career.

“I was always so proud to wear the Adelaide United shirt. I grew up watching this club, and it will always be my club.

“Without you fans, we have no club. Keep turning up – the players need you and feel your support. Thank you, and hopefully I’ll see you soon.”

Mauk was a key figure for the Reds during the 2024-25 season, playing 27 games and scoring nine goals to help Adelaide qualify for the Finals Series.

“Stefan has given so much to this football club both on and off the pitch, and we understand and fully support his decision to pursue this opportunity for him and his family,” said Adelaide United Technical Director, Ernest Faber.

“While we’ll miss his leadership and experience, his departure also creates space for new players to step in and make their mark.

“We’re working diligently behind the scenes on our recruitment strategy to strengthen the squad ahead of what is a long pre-season.

“We wish Stefan all the best and thank him for his incredible contribution to Adelaide United.”
