After it was announced Warland wouldn’t be continuing on with the Reds, Brisbane have wasted little time in snapping up the 27-year-old ahead of the new campaign.

Featuring 13-times for Adelaide United during the 2023-24 season, Warland will now add depth to Roar’s defensive unit following the departures of club captain Tom Aldred and defender Kai Trewin, who has officially now joined Melbourne City.

“I have signed with Brisbane because of their clear ambition to win along with playing exciting & entertaining football,” said Warland after penning his new two-year deal.

“The coaching & back-room staff had a big influence in my decision through the conversations that were had. Seeing the club has a good culture and good people within made my decision even easier.”

Having now amassed more than 80 A-League appearances during spells with both Adelaide United and Sydney FC, Warland believes he’s now ready to establish himself as both a first team regular and a leader within the squad.

“My ambition for my time in Brisbane is to win, help bring the Roar back to where they should be on the table and help build on the great team culture they already have.

“Personally, I want to play every game and keep improving as a player along with being a leader within the team. I also want to help the younger players along the way.

“My family and I are very excited to be joining Brisbane Roar, we are looking forward to a new experience and we are going to thoroughly enjoy it.”

Warland will link up with a familiar face when he joins Brisbane for pre-season training in June, with the Roar having also snapped up former Adelaide United defender Harry Van de Saag following his release by the Reds.
