Wanderers backline reaping rewards

If you don’t have a Western Sydney Wanderers defender in your Isuzu UTE A-League Fantasy squad, the time is now to make your move.

The top three scorers as defenders all come from Marko Rudan’s side after four rounds: Jack Clisby (61 points), Marcelo (58 points) and Tate Russell (53 points). They’re the only three players to have scores of more than 50 after four rounds, averaging 13 or more points-per-game.

The Wanderers have conceded just two goals so far this season, registering three clean sheets from four games. On Saturday afternoon, Russell boosted his season tally by a whopping 25 points after scoring in his side’s third clean sheet of the season. He was the third-highest scorer of the weekend, continuing the form that has seen his price rise $141k over the past two rounds.

McNamara & Pollicina surge to the top

The Liberty A-League Fantasy scoring leaderboard is headlined by a pair of Melbourne City stars who ran hot in Round 4 and surged into the first two spots in the overall scoring tally.

Pollicina leads the way this season with 65 points, and has a three-round average of 20. In a 4-3 win over Western Sydney, Pollicina scored once from the spot, assisted Holly McNamara and created three chances on 88% passing accuracy. But the headlines were written by her fellow City forward Holly McNamara who bagged her first-ever A-Leagues hat-trick.

McNamara was this week’s top scorer in Liberty A-League fantasy with 32 points, helping her value rise by $84k as a result.

Sky Blues front three headlines Team of the Week

From no goals in three games to FIVE in Round 4; Sydney FC were well and truly back in business on Saturday night, thumping Adelaide United 5-1 at Coopers Stadium in new head coach Ufuk Talay’s first game in charge.

As a result, Sydney’s firing frontline of Fabio Gomes, Jaiden Kucharski and Joe Lolley lead the way in this week’s Fantasy Team of the Week! All three players feature in the 3-4-3 formation, with Lolley’s massive 40-point haul coming from two goals and two assists in a destructive performance at Coopers Stadium.

Goalscoring midfielders the flavour of Round 4

The fourth round of Liberty A-League action saw five midfielders make the fantasy Team of the Week for their goalscoring exploits. Rachel Lowe, Chloe Logarzo and Macey Fraser added wonder-strikers to the weekend’s highlights reel and their fantasy scores surged as a result, with Lowe’s 29 points coming via a brace scored in Melbourne Victory’s 4-0 win over Newcastle Jets.

McNamara and Pollicina shone in City’s 4-3 win over the Wanderers – but down the other end, Sophie Harding was just as effective in red and black, scoring two goals and having further chances to add to her 24-point haul.

A special mention is reserved for Brisbane Roar keeper Jordan Silkowitz, whose 16 points came in a 1-1 draw with Central Coast Mariners in which the American was far and away the best player on the park.
