Adelaide United have announce teenage forward Brody Burkitt has signed his first professional contract with the club – a three-year deal that reinforces his rapid rise through South Australia’s football pathway.
Burkitt began his football journey at Seaford Rangers before progressing through the junior ranks at Adelaide City. He later joined WT Birkalla, where he made his senior debut in the RAA NPLSA at just 16 years old against Campbelltown City. Brody played one season with the Adelaide United NPL team in Season 2025-26, scoring 11 goals in 17 matches.
Known for his powerful running, composure in front of goal, and relentless work ethic, Burkitt has continued to develop impressively under the guidance of the club’s technical staff.
“I’ve sacrificed a lot and dedicated everything to be in this position,” said Burkitt, who recreated a childhood photo with Adelaide legend Isaias Sanchez upon signing his first deal.
“Coming from no football background and growing up down south, signing this contract means more than words. Hard work got me here and it won’t stop now. I wouldn’t be here without Airton.
“I’m truly grateful for the opportunity, and I’ve learnt so much from him on and off the pitch. He’s helped me become a sharper, better player, and I’m going to keep working.
“I’m also incredibly grateful for my mum and stepdad for travelling and sacrificing their days to help make my dream come true. Hopefully I can inspire more players from where I’m from to chase the same dream.”
Adelaide technical director Ernest Faber said Burkitt’s progression is a testament to his hunger and the opportunities within the club’s development system.
“Brody is a great example of what can happen when talent is matched with commitment and the right mindset. From the first day he joined our environment, he has shown a willingness to learn, to work, and to push himself every session,” said Faber.
“His progress over the past year has been significant, and this contract is a deserved reward for the standards he sets. We believe Brody has the potential to become an important player for Adelaide United, and we’re excited to continue guiding his development in the years ahead.”
Burkitt’s signing further strengthens Adelaide United’s commitment to identifying, developing, and rewarding young South Australian footballers.
The Reds remain dedicated to providing professional pathways for hardworking, ambitious players to step into the professional environment and succeed at the highest level.
