Adelaide ‘acknowledge importance’ of quartet re-signing: ‘We are really excited’

Adelaide United have announced contract extensions for Katie Bowler, Zoe Tolland, Meleri Mullan and Sarah Morgan ahead of the 2024-25 Liberty A-League season.

South Australians Bowler and Tolland have re-signed for two seasons, while fellow local Mullan and Morgan have committed for one more campaign with the Reds.

The news comes after the return of star defender Matilda McNamara for a third stint.

“After a very learnable season, where the playing group showed some really positive glimpses of what they are capable of, we are certain the players can bring the required energy and positivity both on and off the pitch,” said Adelaide’s head of football Nathan Zanin after the Reds missed the Finals Series in 2023-24.

“The dedication and growth we’ve seen from the team are encouraging, and we believe this will translate into stronger performances moving forward.

“We also acknowledge the importance of putting faith in our young South Australian players, and we are really excited to have Katie, Zoe, and Meleri commit again.

“Additionally, we’re thrilled to welcome back Sarah Morgan, whose experience and skill set will be invaluable in bolstering our squad.”

Tolland has made 23 appearances for the Reds across two seasons and the 21-year-old said: “I’m super excited to sign with Adelaide United again!

“Growing up in Adelaide, it’s an honour to represent my hometown club and wear the red shirt. I can’t wait to get started and am looking forward to a strong season with this team.”

Mullan will enter her fifth season with Adelaide, where she has played 26 matches for the A-Leagued club.

“I’m thrilled to sign on for another season with Adelaide United,” said the 24-year-old local fan favourite. “The success I’ve experienced with West Adelaide in the WNPL this season has only fuelled my hunger to achieve more with the Reds.

“I’m eager to bring that winning mentality into the team and be a leader in the dressing room. I can’t wait to get started and help drive the club to new heights.”

Since making her debut in 2023, local youngster Bowler has scored twice in 20 games.

“It’s an honour to be part of this club, and I’m grateful for every opportunity I get to represent this team. I’m very excited for the upcoming season and can’t wait to be back on the pitch with the girls,” she said.

Young Matilda Morgan has featured in 19 Adelaide matches following her arrival from NPLW NSW side Spirit FC in 2023.

“Signing on for this season is incredibly exciting! I’m thrilled to be part of a club with such a strong culture and passionate fans,” said the 23-year-old. “I’m eager to contribute to the team’s success and can’t wait to get started!”
