Adelaide United have been dealt a big blow ahead of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 season with news midfielder Zach Clough has left the club.
The 30-year-old has been one of the Isuzu UTE A-League’s best midfielders since arriving at the Reds in 2021 and went on to make 93 appearances for the Reds.

Despite being contracted until the end of the 2025-26 campaign, the club has granted Clough an early release from the final year of his deal to take up a new opportunity overseas.
“This was a really difficult decision, because I truly love this city, this club, and the people within it,” said Clough when addressing the Adelaide United fans upon his departure.

“Adelaide feels like home. But this is an opportunity for my family and I that we couldn’t pass up.
“I’m incredibly grateful to the fans for the memories and for making my time here so special. I really hope the door is always open for a return, because I’ll always be a Red.”
The creative midfielder played 27 games last season, scoring seven goals whilst also registering nine assists as Adelaide United qualified for the Finals Series.

Clough becomes the latest player to leave Adelaide United in recent weeks following the exits of Jordan Elsey, James Delianov, Josh Cavallo and Ryan Tunnicliffe.
Meanwhile Spanish legends Isaias and Javi Lopez both hung up the boots following the end of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 however both will be staying at the club, with Isaias appointed as an assistant coach to boss Airton Andriolo while Lopez has been appointed as the club’s new Transition and Individual Coach.
