Adelaide defender undergoes surgery after suffering serious knee injury

Adelaide United have confirmed defender Dylan Pierias is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury during their Round 9 win over Perth Glory.

The pacey full back was stretchered off in the second half of last weekend’s win over the Glory and has subsequently undergone surgery on the problem.

“Football has its highs and lows and this will be the biggest test of my career so far,” said Pierias in a message on Instagram.

“It is going to be tough sitting on the sidelines for the next 12 months but this is part of my journey. It’s time to look forward and get on the road of recovery.

“I guarantee I will come back stronger than ever. I just want to thank all the medical staff at Adelaide United for all the support through this time as well as the amazing Dr William Duncan for putting me back together.”

In a club statement, the Reds have reiterated their commitment to provide Pierias with comprehensive medical, physical and wellbeing support throughout his recovery.
