Melbourne City have signed Young Matilda and former Adelaide United attacker Emilia Murray on a two-year deal.
Having spent the last three seasons in South Australia, the 19-year-old has now secured a move to the reigning Liberty A-League premiers as they begin their title defence in 2024-25.
Furthermore, Murray’s inclusion also acts as a huge boost to a squad preparing to make their debut in the AFC Women’s Champions League later this year.
“We are delighted to have Emilia join us at Melbourne City,” said Director of Football Michael Petrillo.
“She is an incredibly talented young footballer with a bright future ahead of her.
“Emilia’s ability to impact games with her creativity will be a significant boost for us. We look forward to seeing her thrive in City colours.”
Amassing 29 appearances and three goals across a three year spell with the Reds, Murray says she cannot wait to get started at a club she believes will be vying for more silverware in season 2024-25.

“I’m so excited to join Melbourne City,” said Murray after her two-year deal was made official on Tuesday afternoon.
“The Club has a fantastic history of success and a clear vision moving forward that I can’t wait to be a part of.
She added: “I can’t wait to contribute to the team’s goals, and I look forward to growing and developing my own game alongside some incredible players.”
Murray becomes the club’s fourth new signing of the off-season following the arrivals of fellow Young Matilda Alexia Apostolakis, former Wellington Phoenix striker Mariana Speckmaier and Spanish goalkeeper Malena Mieres.
American defender Taylor Otto has also extended her stay at the club, penning a new one-year deal, while trio Laura Hughes, Bryleeh Henry and Karly Roestbakken have all signed on until the end of the 2025-26 season.
City’s moves in the market come as they bid to replace some high-profile exits at the club with all-time leading goalscorer Hannah Wilkinson, prodigious young talent Daniela Galic (FC Twente) and attacker Emina Ekic all among those who have left.

Meanwhile the club are continuing their search for a new head coach following the departure of Dario Vidosic.
Fresh off capturing the Liberty A-League Premiership and guiding his side to the Grand Final, Vidosic was promptly headhunted by Women’s Super League (WSL) club Brighton and Hove Albion, with his move made official last month.
