Newcastle announce arrival of World Cup history maker for remainder of A-Leagues season

Canberra United will be looking to win their first game of the season as they host Newcastle Jets at home.

Newcastle Jets have announced the signing of Philippines international Sarina Bolden for the remainder of the Liberty A-League season.

The 27-year-old joins the club after spending last season with Western Sydney Wanderers, scoring once in 10 appearances.

The American born striker has enormous pedigree at international level, scoring 28 goals from her 44 caps including Philippines’ first and only goal at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, in their 1-0 win over New Zealand.

Bolden will be available for Newcastle’s clash with Canberra United later today, bolstering their attacking stocks significantly as they’re also set to welcome back star striker Melina Ayres.

Newcastle have also confirmed DR Congolese international Kizinga Ndjoli Exaucee has departed the club.
