Brisbane Roar announce exciting 4-year first will happen next week: ‘It’s a fantastic opportunity’

Brisbane Roar will host Western United at Ballymore Stadium this weekend in what is new Brisbane Roar coach Alex Smith’s first game.

Brisbane Roar’s Liberty A-League side will play its first match at Suncorp Stadium in over four years next week in their Round 6 clash with Adelaide United.

Roar announced their Isuzu UTE and Liberty A-League sides will play in a doubleheader at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday November 26, with the men’s side taking on Perth Glory at 3pm (AEDT) and women’s side facing the Reds at 5:45pm (AEDT).

The Roar’s women’s side were initially set to play a day earlier at Ballymore Stadium, before the fixture change was confirmed on Thursday afternoon.

Their last match played at Suncorp was on January 25, 2019, where they defeated Canberra United 4-1 – with Matildas attacker Hayley Raso among the goal scorers that day.

“We are delighted to have the support of the APL to bring our women’s team to Suncorp Stadium for a massive double header. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our fans and families to see and support both sides at a family-friendly time on a Sunday afternoon,” said Brisbane Roar CEO Kaz Patafta.

“We are thrilled to see the level of interest and support in the women’s game and we believe this is a great opportunity to bring everyone together.

“Under new leadership of coach, Alex Smith, and with increased resources and support from the club, our women’s side are re-energised, focused and excited to take on Adelaide United in front of our supporters at Suncorp Stadium.
