Isuzu UTE A-League champions Melbourne City have confirmed the departure of star midfielder Steven Ugarkovic.
Ugarkovic leaves City following the conclusion of his contract and after playing a key role in the club’s historic Grand Final triumph over foes Melbourne Victory last week.

The versatile 30-year-old midfielder – who also played full-back at times in 2024-25 – made 61 appearances across two seasons in Melbourne, scoring six goals as he got his hands on a maiden title.

“My time in Melbourne, and this season in particular, is something I will never forget,” Ugarkovic said.
“To lift the first piece of silverware in my career was such a proud moment, and I want to thank all of my teammates, the coaching and support staff, as well as the City fans for their support throughout my time at the club.”

City’s director of football Michael Petrillo added: “Steven’s experience and quality were huge factors in our success this season, and he has been a hugely important member of our squad since he arrived in 2023.
