Perth Glory part with another foreigner who ‘didn’t fit the system we want to play’

Perth Glory have announced the departure of Colombian forward Cristian Caicedo following a mutual termination of his contract.

Caicedo leaves the Glory having made just three Isuzu UTE A-League appearances for Perth, though he has not featured since his reaction to being substituted in the Round 6 defeat to Adelaide United – meaning he has missed the past three matches.

The 22-year-old forward had arrived from Colombian outfit Orsomarso SC for the 2024-25 season.

It comes after Perth and Ecuadorian defender Luis Canga mutually agreed to part ways last week.

“Unfortunately, Cristian didn’t fit the system that we want to play,” said Glory football director Stan Lazaridis as Perth avoided an unwanted A-Leagues record by beating Brisbane Roar over the weekend.

“The move hasn’t worked out for either the club or the player on or off the field and we’ve therefore come to an amicable agreement which allows Cristian to move on.

“He has handled himself very professionally during his short period with us and we would like to thank him for his service and wish him all the very best for the next stage of his football journey.

“We can now focus upon bringing in another player who will slot into our team.”
