Brisbane Roar have secured the services of former Melbourne City star Florin Berenguer on a two-year deal.
The 34-year-old departed City at the end of the 2022-23 season, having played 111 Isuzu UTE A-league games for the club and winning three Premierships and one Championship across five seasons.
The Frenchman was widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the league across his time at City, scoring 10 league goals and assisting 16 more in a five-season stint highlighted by the 2021-22 campaign where he won City’s player of the year award.

Berenguer arrives in Brisbane as one of new head coach Ross Aloisi’s biggest signings, and will link up with Jay O’Shea in what promises to be one of the classiest midfield combinations in the league.
New Roar CEO Kaz Patafta expressed his excitement at recruiting Berenguer for the next two seasons.
“I am thrilled to announce the signing of Florin Berenguer,” he said.
“Florin’s commitment to excellence and his underlying drive to be successful align perfectly with our club’s values and ambitions.”
“As we embark on this exciting new chapter, we are confident that Florin will play an instrumental role in achieving our collective goals and elevating the legacy of Brisbane Roar.”
