Brisbane Roar sign ‘electric’ Aussie teen from rivals: ‘Eager to create something special’

Brisbane Roar have signed talented young gun Nathan Amanatidis from Isuzu UTE A-League rivals Sydney FC.

Amanatidis – an Australian youth international – arrives in Brisbane on a two-and-a-half-year deal after the Roar confirmed Thomas Waddingham’s European switch to EFL Championship side Portsmouth.

The 19-year-old forward made 14 A-Leagues appearances during his time in Sydney dating back to 2023, scoring once in the AFC Champions League Two, after coming through Adelaide United’s youth system.

“I’m thrilled to be signing with a fantastic club like Brisbane, known for its rich history in the A-League,” Amanatidis said.

“I’m eager to create something special with the club and it’s fans and I can’t wait to work alongside this talented team and coach.

“One of my main goals is to secure a spot in the starting 11, contributing with as many goals and assists as possible, while also helping the team achieve as many victories as we can, as we aim to compete for silverware.

“Beyond my time with the Roar, I have a long-term aspiration to represent the Socceroos. It means a lot to me that the club and Ruben (Zadkovich) recognise my potential and have faith in me.

“I’m looking forward to jumping right in and making a strong impact in the second half of the season.”
