Brisbane Roar’s search for a permanent men’s head coach is over, with the club announcing Ross Aloisi will fill the club’s vacant role ahead of the 2023-24 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
A former assistant coach at the Roar, Aloisi vows to use the invaluable experience he accrued across last season’s J1 League title-winning campaign working under Kevin Muscat at Yokohama F. Marinos, to help guide the A-League Men club back into the finals.
Aloisi returns to the club where he spent four seasons as an assistant between 2015-2019 to take on a head coaching role for the first time in his managerial career.
Prior to his spell at Marinos as Muscat’s assistant, he spent almost two years at A-Leagues club Adelaide United, working under men’s head coach Carl Veart with the Reds’ Isuzu UTE A-League squad.
Aloisi joins his brother John in occupying a head coach role in the competition, with the latter having spent the past two seasons at the helm of Western United, winning the 2021-22 Championship.
“It’s special to be back at the Brisbane Roar,” Ross Aloisi said, “and back at Suncorp Stadium playing in front of the Den and our wonderful supporters and that’s what we want back this season the supporters to follow the team and help us get into that top six play-off position.”
Aloisi added: “I learnt a lot under Kevin Muscat, and I am so grateful to Kevin and Yokahama Marinos for giving me that opportunity and what I learnt over there, especially in the training sessions, I want to bring back here at the Roar.”
