Reno Piscopo returns home to join Melbourne Victory: ‘We believe he’ll thrive’

Melbourne Victory have continued their preparations for the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season after announcing the signing of former Inter youngster Reno Piscopo.

Piscopo has signed a two-year deal with Victory until the end of the 2025-26 campaign following his departure from Newcastle Jets.

The 26-year-old Melbourne native, who began his professional career in Italy where he progressed through the academy systems of Inter and Torino before spending two seasons at Renate in Serie C, is Victory’s third signing after Josh Rawlins and Jing Reec.

“We’re incredibly pleased to have a player like Reno at Melbourne Victory,” said Victory head coach Patrick Kisnorbo.

“A Melbournian at his roots, Reno is a versatile, attacking player who we believe with his attitude and work rate will add an exciting, creative element to our forward third.

“We believe Reno will thrive at Melbourne Victory and we’re looking forward to what he will produce at AAMI Park this season.”

Piscopo returned Down Under in 2019, joining Isuzu UTE A-League outfit Wellington Phoenix.

He made 59 appearances and scored eight goals while he also earned A-Leagues All Stars selection for the 2022 blockbuster showdown with LaLiga powerhouse Barcelona.

Piscopo scored in that memorable 3-2 loss to Barcelona in front of more than 70,000 fans in Sydney.

He then returned to Australian shores in 2022 via the Jets, where Piscopo scored twice in 33 league matches.

“It’s exciting to be back home in Melbourne and joining a club like Melbourne Victory,” Piscopo said.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of the squad and doing everything I can to help the team win silverware this season.

“I know what the club means to its fans and how important it is in our state and I’m looking forward to delivering for them this season.”
