Wellington Phoenix star’s injury confirmed in blow to Chiefy’s side: Details

Wellington Phoenix have confirmed New Zealand international Tim Payne will be sidelined for the upcoming Isuzu UTE A-League rounds due to a broken collarbone.

Payne suffered the injury during the Phoenix’s 96th-minute victory over Brisbane Roar at Sky Stadium on Sunday.

The Wellington star succumbed to the problem inside the first 15 minutes of the Round 2 showdown, meaning he will also be out of contention to represent the All Whites in next month’s international friendlies against Colombia and Ecuador.

“The club wishes Tim Payne all the best with his recovery and looks forward to seeing him back on the pitch as soon as possible,” the Phoenix said in a statement.
