Newcastle Jets star Kota Mizunuma could be facing a lengthy stint on the sidelines after he was a notable absentee from Sunday’s F3 Derby against rivals Central Coast Mariners.
Mizumuma was not in the squad for the Isuzu UTE A-League Round 1 opener in Gosford after suffering a training-ground injury in the leadup to the season-opening showdown.
During Sunday’s broadcast, Paramount+ commentator Glen Lauder provided an update on the popular Japanese import.

“Disappointing of course for the Jets to lose Kota Mizunuma to what could be a long-term hamstring injury at training this week,” he said.
Mizumuma has endeared himself to not only Jets fans but A-Leagues supporters since moving to Newcastle from J1 League club Yokohama F.Marinos in the second half of 2024-25.
The 35-year-old transformed the Jets last season, scoring two goals and supplying four assists.
