The A-Leagues action concluded on Sunday with a jam-packed slate of matches across the Liberty A-League and Isuzu UTE A-League.
In the Liberty A-League, Melbourne City defeated Newcastle Jets 2-0 at City Football Academy Field before Adelaide United lost 4-1 to Melbourne Victory meet in the Original Rivalry at Coopers Stadium.
Over in the Isuzu UTE A-League, in-form Sydney FC and Brisbane Roar drew 1-1 at Allianz Stadium while high-flying defending champions Central Coast Mariners were too good for Macarthur FC 3-0.

Melbourne City 2-0 Newcastle Jets – City Football Academy Field
Melbourne City love playing against Newcastle Jets. The proof is in the numbers after the Liberty A-League title hopefuls emerged 2-0 victors.
Hannah Wilkinson scored twice in six second-half minutes to not only take her season tally to eight goals but help snap City’s five-match winless run on Sunday.

City are now undefeated in all their 15 A-League games against Newcastle (W14
D1); it’s the most matches any team has played against another without losing in the history of the competition.
Dario Vidosic’s City preserved their spot in second in the table, while the Jets remain sixth and only in the finals places on goals scored.

Adelaide United 1-4 Melbourne Victory – Coopers Stadium
Emily Gielnik’s red-hot form continued with a memorable hat-trick as Melbourne Victory dispatched rivals Adelaide United 4-1 in the Liberty A-League.
The Matildas forward enhanced her growing case for an international re-call with her first hat-trick in three years to guide Victory to an eighth straight match without defeat on Sunday.

Gielnik, who has not played for the Olympics-bound Matildas since October 2022 due to fitness issues, has now scored six goals in four matches after celebrating her first three-goal haul since scoring thrice for Brisbane Roar against Adelaide on March 12, 2021.
Kayla Morrison was also on target for Victory who are fourth in the standings but just three points adrift of league-leading Western United through 19 rounds, while Adelaide remain second from bottom.

ISUZU UTE A-LEAGUE
Sydney FC 1-1 Brisbane Roar – Allianz Stadium
Sunday’s clash between Sydney FC and Brisbane Roar pits one side eager to break into the top four against another pushing hard to break into the top six.

The Sky Blues have the equal-best form line of any team in the league across the past five games, picking up 11 points from a possible 15. Only league-leaders Wellington have accrued the same amount of points across the five-game stretch. Round 19’s 4-1 rout over Western Sydney was a statement result from the Sky Blues who now sit just one point behind fourth-placed Melbourne Victory.
Brisbane benefited from Sydney’s thumping win last weekend, defeating Victory to draw within a win of the Wanderers, and the top six. The Sky Blues welcome Luke Brattan back into the fold after a one-week suspension to bolster their midfield against the Roar.

Macarthur FC 0-3 Central Coast Mariners – Campbelltown Stadium
Another week and another win for red-hot Central Coast Mariners, who jumped to the top of the Isuzu UTE A-League standings with a dominant 3-0 victory over Macarthur FC.
Josh Nisbet was the architect with a goal and an assist as the rampant Mariners ended a round top of the table for the first time since Round 1 of the 2021-22 season – November 21, 2021 to be exact.

Socceroos candidate Nisbet broke the deadlock in the eighth minute before teeing up Ronald Barcellos 11 minutes later in Campbelltown on Sunday.
Defending champions the Mariners, who have lost just one of their past 22 matches in all competitions, then sealed the deal with an incredible coast-to-coast goal that ended with Ryan Edmondson scoring after Macarthur’s Filip Kurto had early saved a penalty.
Central Coast leapfrogged Wellington Phoenix at the summit on games won through 21 with both teams level on 40 points, while Macarthur remain fourth but are eight points off the pace.
