Sunday’s blockbuster Isuzu UTE A-League Elimination Final between Melbourne Victory and rivals Melbourne City has a new kick-off time.
Originally slated for 3:00pm (AEST) at AAMI Park, the mouth-watering Melbourne Derby between third-placed Victory and three-time reigning premiers City will now get underway at 5:00pm on Sunday.
It is the first Isuzu UTE A-League Melbourne Derby final in nine years.
FINALS SERIES SCHEDULE: Isuzu UTE A-League top six locked in after dramatic final weekend
AAMI Park was not available on Friday night, while the Liberty A-League Grand Final – pitting premiers Melbourne City against defending champions Sydney FC – is scheduled for Saturday evening.
“We’ve heard fan feedback and this morning have worked with clubs and partners to confirm that the kick off time for the Melbourne derby Elimination Final has been moved to 5pm AEST on Sunday 5 May, 2024,” said an APL spokesperson.
“It’s set to be a huge Elimination Final and we thank all partners for their cooperation in helping make this change and ensuring we can make this derby as big as possible.”
City clinched a finals berth thanks to Sunday’s 1-0 win over Western United at AAMI Park.
Aurelio Vidmar’s City needed all three points to move back above Western Sydney Wanderers and into the top six on the final day of the regular season and they did just that thanks to Jamie Maclaren.
Despite a 4-3 loss to the Wanderers on Saturday night, Victory still finished third in the standings.
