Steph Catley has been an integral member of Melbourne City’s Westfield W-League success over the last two years, leading the way with her assured performances in defence.
Not only is Catley a star of the Westfield W-League but she’s also a mainstay in Alen Stajcic’s Westfield Matildas squad.
We sat down with the 23-year-old as part of our “One on One” series, talking everything from interesting punishments for being late to City training, to her toughest opponents and juggling the Westfield W-League with playing in the US.
“It works perfectly. We can basically go from one to the other,” Catley said.
“It’s always nice that you don’t have to worry about doing an off-season somewhere doing work by yourself. You’re always in a team environment.
“The W-League is a very technical league. A lot of internationals come over and want to play and that’s something, through our national team, most teams want to play out and keep the ball and that sets me up to play there.”
