New Central Coast Mariners signing Luis Garcia hopes his stint in Australia will turn Liverpool fans onto Hyundai A-League supporters, starting Saturday in Gosford.
A fit-looking Garcia arrived in Sydney on Thursday morning to kick off his stint in the A-League for the remainder of the season.

It’s barely two weeks after he played in Liverpool Legends’ 4-0 win over an Australia side in Sydney in front of 40,000 fans.
Now he hopes some of those Reds fans who have packed stadiums in Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne in recent years to see Liverpool on tour will join his Central Coast adventure across Australia.
“They showed their response two weeks ago. There is a huge, massive fan-base here in Australia for Liverpool,” Garcia said.
“I’m honoured. Every time I’ve been here they treat us very well and hopefully we can bring along more [Liverpool fans] to watch the games and of course our fans are very happy.”
Central Coast stadium will have a Luis Garcia bay for Liverpool fans and the club are expecting a number of fans in Red Garcia shirts.
The ex-Liverpool great declared he was ready to play his part in Saturday’s clash with second-placed Wanderers in Gosford.
And the game will have a distinct Spanish flavour.
Wanderers feature the likes of Andreu and Dimas in their midfield, as well as former Barcelona and Malaga coach Andres Carrasco on the bench as Tony Popovic’s assistant.
It should make for some interesting Spanish banter on the park.
“I know some of them through a friend of a friend, I know some of them but I haven’t seen them in a long while,” Garcia said of the Wanderers’ Spanish contingent.
Garcia also didn’t rule out staying longer in Australia if this season goes well.
“Who knows? I’m happy to be here and after that we’ll see how it goes,” he said.
