Gold Coast United rookie Daniel Bowles has signed with Adelaide United, as GCU skipper Michael Thwaite calls for a decision on the beleagured club’s future by this weekend.
Emerging talent Daniel Bowles is set to leave Gold Coast United at the end of the season with Adelaide United snapping the 20-year-old up on a two-year deal.
The signing of Bowles came on the back of Adelaide extending coach, Johns Kosmina’s contract for another year.
Bowles who has impressed since his debut for the club and scored a crucial goal against Central Coast Mariners is just the latest in a list of stars set to leave the beleaguered club.
The trend was started when James Brown was signed by Newcastle Jets and continued when Adama Traore completed his deal with Melbourne Victory.
With the future of Gold Coast United uncertain, their skipper Michael Thwaite has called on Football federation Australia to make a call on the club-s future as soon as this weekend, so the players can sort out their futures, and was backed by coach Mike Mulvey.
“I would like to see it (a decision on the club’s future) done by the weekend,” Thwaite said.
“We have done our part by signing with the FFA [after Palmer’s axing] and it is up to them to let us know before the league is finished.”
Mulvey who has done a superb job as coach since taking over from Miron Bleiberg, echoed the sentiments of his captain.
“I think the players should know what their future is – whether it be good or bad,” Mulvey said.
“Because I know there are deals on the table for some players.
“They need to be sure of their future. Some have mortgages, kids, schools, deciding where they live.
“I think the powers that be should give them an answer as soon as possible.”
