Central Coast Mariners left back Joshua Rose has signed a three-year contract extention to stay with the Hyundai A-League-s leaders until 2015.
A mainstay of the Mariners- defence since becoming Graham Arnold-s first signing in 2010, Rose’s continued development has also been mentioned in as apossible Qantas Socceroos bolter.
Rose said he was happy to secure his future at a club that he feels “settled” at, and a community he feels at home in.
“With my young boys it-s good to have that stability,” Rose said. “We are nice and settled here, so we are very happy.”
“My wife and I have bought a house here (on the Coast). The football side of things, with a coach like Arnie, it-s all going along pretty smooth.
“The club suits me well, and if you are happy you play your best football.”
With his club future secured, Rose says he hopes maintaining his good form will be enough to earn recognition from national coach Holger Osieck.
“It-s always in the back of the mind and obviously playing at Central Coast suits my style and helps me stand out a bit with the license to get forward,” he said.
“I-m enjoying my football and if I keep doing well then those things will look after themselves.”
Mariners coach Arnold said he was thrilled the Mariners have been able to secure Rose-s services for another three seasons, and labelled the Rockhampton-born flyer the “best left fullback in the league”.
“For me it-s a fantastic signing for us, especially for three years,” Arnold said.
“He-s such a good guy and fits perfectly into the group and the culture of the Mariners. I-m very happy Josh can get on with football now.
“He brings quality – defensively he-s very strong,” he said. “He gets some goals and assists as well.
“He-s the best left fullback in the league and I-m sure if he ever got given the opportunity at national level he wouldn-t let anyone down.”
